KCLSU has a new exciting opportunity to join the Activities Team! As part of the Activities Team you will play a key role supporting students who wish to engage in Volunteering Activity helping to ensure student leaders enjoy the best possible university experience by coordinating the development of Volunteering and/or Fundraising, providing support to involved students, staff and elected officers in the delivery of this key area of student life across the vibrant KCLSU community.

  • Monitor the department inbox and respond to enquiries in a polite, timely and professional manner or forwarding to relevant staff member. 
  • Assist with general administrative tasks to support KCLSU community leads and staff. 
  • Provide support for projects running across the community engagement department as needed. 
  • Assist on project delivery within Student Volunteering Week, such as liaising between key project staff.  
  • Assist on project delivery, such as liaising between key project staff or mentors & mentees.  
  • Deliver DBS checks for students.  
  • Assist on administrative tasks for the Volunteer Project funds. 
  • Assist on administrative tasks for Fundraising Applications & Activity.  
  • Assist on administrative tasks for WP Project Applications & Activity.  
  • Assist on the administrative tasks for training sessions such as scheduling meetings, updating webpage. 
  • Assist on building surveys & reports from Volunteering & WP Projects. 
  • Assist on administrative tasks for Fundraising Projects, including liaising with the Finance Department as required. 
  • Complete student feedback collation and support with analysis. 
  • Compiling and creating written content for monthly newsletter and sending out to our mailing list. 

Person Specification 

Knowledge 

  • Ability to use the internet and Microsoft Office; particularly Excel, Word and Outlook. 
  • Good standard of English (both written and verbal). 
  • Basic understanding of KCLSU & the higher education sector (desirable). 
  • Knowledge widening participation (desirable). 

Experience 

  • Experience of working with people via email, telephone and face to face. 
  • Experience working as part of a busy team. 
  • Volunteering experience. 
  • Experience of administrative work (desirable). 

Skills 

  • Organised and methodical with good administration skills. 
  • Ability to manage working time effectively and prioritise appropriately. 
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with an understanding of customer service. 
  • Independent and self-reliant, with the ability to take initiative and work independently.  
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and workload. 
  • Contribute to and help promote positive communication to our members. 
  • Confidence to ask for help when necessary. 

Aptitude 

  • Polite, positive & friendly manner. 
  • A “can-do” approach. 
  • Willing to perform other task as part of the KCLSU team. 
  • Reliable, punctual, flexible with a proactive working style.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for this role you must:

  • Be eligible to work in the UK, and provide proof of this (i.e. a passport/visa) when asked by KCLSU
  • Have a National Insurance number, or be in the process of applying for one
  • Not be a trustee of King’s College London Students’ UnionTrustees should not apply for a role whilst in their term of office, or should their application be accepted or progressed to the interview stage.
  • Ex-Trustees can apply for student staff (non-administrative) roles, as soon as they finish their tenure.
  • Ex-Trustees can apply for career staff / permanent staff roles, only after a year has passed of them being a trustee. Applications submitted within the year should not be accepted or progressed to the interview stage.

The post holder will be unable to stand in the KCLSU autumn elections.
