Campaign Aim

Turn the Tabls (TNT) was a KCLSU-led priortiy campaign (alongisde Thrive not Survive) to provide students with flexible, compassionate and transparent timetabling at KCL. It prioritsed student wellbeing in both academic and non-academic commitments. Essentially, TNT essentially sought to discourage timetable clashes, finding availability for studentsto balance extracurricular activities with their studies; back-to-back examinations, and realistic commutes between lextures and seminars.

Campaign Impact

Productive discussions between students and staff occured in January 2024, after which the TNT campaign  called for a compassionate, flexible and transparent approach to timetabling which prioritizes student wellbeing and respects students’ both academic and non-academic commitments.

On the 23 Apr 2024, TNT released the results of their Timetabling survey (which was open from the 1st of December to the 8th 2024) and tallied about 141 responses. Their results uncovered that the most common complaint raised by respondents is that timetables are “released too late”. For both types of timetables, “difficulty requesting changes” is also highly ranked as the second most raised complaint for regular teaching timetables and the third highest complaint for assessment timetables.

Upon these results, the TNT campaign shared these findings with the relevant KCL teams, who were keen to take this feedback on board to bring about much-needed changes. Since then, the last recorded action taken by TNT was their aim to institute a timetable drafting policy, outlining some baseline standards students should expect from their timetabling processes at King's.
