Volunteer as a Peer Guide at KCLSU’s Welcome Fair this September! It’s a great way to make new friends, improve your CV and get the new year off to an exciting start!
Our annual Welcome Fair is taking place at Old Billingsgate on Thursday 19th September. Welcome Fair is a chance to meet many of our 300+ student activity groups and 70 sport clubs, learn more about our venues, and snag some great student deals (as well as lots of freebies!).
There are often students who can be nervous to attend Welcome Fair alone or just fancy going along with someone else – this is where you’ll come in! We’re looking for King’s students who are friendly, warm and enthusiastic to welcome and guide a group of students around Welcome Fair. You’ll help them feel comfortable and excited for the year ahead and might make some new friends along the way yourself.
You will:
- Provide a warm, friendly welcome to new and returning students.
- Meet students before Welcome Fair to have a friendly chat and encourage them to get to know one another.
- Deliver icebreakers to groups of 30-40 students with another volunteer.
- Guide students around Welcome Fair.
- Share your knowledge and top tips of KCL University, London and student life.
Overall, your shift will last around 4.5 to 5 hours.
You’ll also have a chance to go around Welcome Fair yourself and meet any student activity groups or sport clubs you want to chat to.
You will need to attend one briefing for this role where you’ll find out logistics for the day, be given top tips on how you can welcome students and ask any questions you need. The briefings will take place on Monday 9th 12.30pm-1.30pm on Teams and Tuesday 10th 6.30pm-7.30pm on Teams – you only need to attend one briefing.
You’ll be paired with another volunteer throughout your shift.
As a thank you for taking part, you’ll receive:
