What do we do?

The King's College London Ukrainian Society is committed to promoting Ukrainian culture and values within KCL and beyond. We warmly welcome students from all backgrounds, creating a space for cultural exchange and mutual understanding. We aim to build a community of like-minded individuals who celebrate Ukrainian culture and make a real impact through meaningful actions, primarily supporting the Ukrainian people during war times. You do not have to be Ukrainian to join us!

2023-24

Last year, we hosted a series of impactful and engaging events that showcased our dedication to cultural exchange, education, and support for Ukraine. We collaborated with the Polish and European societies on various social events, fostering connections across different cultures within our university community. We also organised film screenings and held discussions with guest speakers, focusing on critical topics like media literacy and cognitive resilience during wartime.

One of our highlights was a Prymachenko-style art workshop, in which participants explored Ukrainian folk art and connected with Ukraine's cultural heritage.

On the second anniversary of the full-scale war in Ukraine, we partnered with the KCL Politics Society to host a panel discussion featuring Valeriia Voshchevska and Dr. Domitilla Sargamoso, offering deep insights into the ongoing conflict.

In collaboration with the Film Society, we screened the Oscar-winning film 20 Days in Mariupol, highlighting the harsh realities of the war.

Another significant event was "In Conversation with Azovstal Defenders," where we were joined by Arsenii "Process" Fedosiuk, Azov Brigade Lieutenant, and Volodymyr "Zelandia" Vernygora, Azov Brigade Junior Sergeant. Their firsthand accounts brought the audience closer to the bravery and resilience of those defending Ukraine.

Moreover, our collective efforts led to the successful purchase of a Drone Mavic 3 Pro, which was sent to Ukraine to aid in the ongoing efforts. Our events not only celebrated Ukrainian culture but also made a tangible difference in supporting Ukraine during wartime.
