External Speakers Update
Our External Speakers team is excited to see such a large amount of speaker events coming in already for this year.
We are reaching out to remind student groups of the requirement for all external speakers requests to be submitted via our online form at least 15 working days prior to your event. Lately, we have received a large number of requests giving us considerably less than 15 working days’ notice.
Due to a significant rise in external speaker events this year (almost a 400% increase on the same time last year), our team has made the decision to strictly implement this 15 working day requirement to ensure a fair process for all. This means that KCLSU will not confirm external speakers that are submitted with less than 15 working day’s notice and student activity groups will be required to reschedule their event. The 15 working days enables us to support our student groups with keeping students, staff and the wider community safe if risk assessments are needed.

Student Data Issues and Group Membership
After several queries by students who could not purchase memberships, we've looked into the system and found the issue. The process by which we deal with pending information has changed recently, leading to a backlog of unimported student data. We've established a new system to clear the backlog, but this will take time to clear. We know this is frustrating as many of you are keen to recruit members and start the year well, but please be patient. We're aiming to resolve the situation as soon as possible.
Student Group Leader WhatsApp Group
A group of KCLSU student leaders have created a WhatsApp group to allow communication between groups to happen quickly and easily. This will support groups with collaborating on projects together and also helping to solve common issues together. If you wish to join the group, please click the link below. By clicking the link and joining the group, you are agreeing for your mobile number to be shared with other members of the group and the other basic ground rules for the group, listed below.
- The group chat is a safe space and KCLSU’s safe space policy must be adhered to
- The sole purpose of the group is mutual support.
- No violations of any KCLSU policies
- No sharing of other people's data without their consent.
Group members who violate ground rules may be removed from the group chat and may be subject to KCLSU’s member disciplinary procedure
