What is the KCL Law Council?

We are the Law Faculty’s Academic Association which means that we advocate on behalf of you (students) for any and all matters concerning being a law student at KCL! This year, we are continuing our initiatives like the Law Families programme and Academic Feedback Campaigns while more broadly focusing on ensuring clarity of communication between students and faculty and most importantly, representing your voices! There are various ways to get in contact with us (Instagram, Email or through your newly elected Academic Reps!) so please do get in touch if you have any concerns, queries or feedback.

The Law Council has accomplished some fantastic things over the past few years! See below for further details;

  • We successfully campaigned for a change to how summative feedback is delivered across the Law School, a culmination of two years of active campaigning from the Law Council

    • The details are still being ironed out so keep an eye out for further information

  • We created an Anonymous Complaint Form which has encouraged students to come forward with their concerns. This has promoted transparency and good governance within the Law School.

    • Through this, we have been able to address sensitive topics and better support students

  • We held the Law School’s first-ever Town Hall in the 2023/24 academic year where we invited students from all year groups to talk about their experiences so far, and to raise any concerns.

  • In the 2024/25 academic year we have paired 280 students across the Law Families Project, an increase of around 50% on the previous year! This has contributed to a stronger sense of community, mentorship and knowledge across the student body.

  • We held a free textbook giveaway in association with the KCL Law Society.

  • We took an active role in Law induction events, providing students with key advice and support in the first few weeks of the academic year.

    • (You probably saw us at the Welcome Fair, in the First Year Induction, the Networking Social and the Q&A sessions which are just a few of the events we attended and led in the first few weeks of term)

  • Keep updated on our upcoming events and initiatives by following us on instagram
