If you are an international or estranged student, chances are you might need to face unrealistic requirements to find affordable housing in London! This can be paying your rent for several months upfront without a UK-based rent guarantor.
Our 23/24 KCLSU President, Steven Suresh, dedicated months to improving access to affordable housing for all and successfully lobbied King’s to explore the introduction of a rent guarantor scheme, similar to those in place at most other Russell Group universities!
As a result, King’s formed a Rent Guarantor Scheme Working Group, where key University stakeholders meet with KCLSU Officers to discuss the option of implementing a Rent Guarantor Scheme at King's!
Affordable housing is also a top priority for our 24/25 KCLSU VP Welfare & Community, HF.
Check our KCLSU News page for more updates on HF's work to improve the KAAS scheme for King’s most vulnerable students.
