3 Cozy Coffee Shops to Slow Down in London

This Friday, we approach the end of Wellbeing Week. We hope you have made the most out of our events so far, and that you will continue to do so for the weekend! But this celebration does not have to formally end this Sunday night: your wellbeing is something to be cherished every day. Coincidentally, today is also National Cappuccino Day! And with the weather getting colder (and your Mariah Carey soundtracks progressively defrosting), you might want to savour a moment to sip a warm cup of coffee and find satisfaction in a comforting environment. We invite you to check out these three cozy coffee shops around London, to get out of the University Campus bubble and recharge with a warm drink between your hands!

1. Redemption Roasters

Our first recommendation is hidden in the tiny avenues of the Hampstead neighbourhood, now decorated with crispy fallen leaves all over its roads. After a walk in Hampstead Heath, you might want to check out this lovely coffee shop, that will astonish you with their latte art and deep blue decorations. This comfortable place also harbours a noble intention: to rehabilitate people in prison by training them to roast coffee. Their mission to ‘reduce reoffending through coffee’ has proven successful over the years, and you can contribute to the cause through your coffee purchase!

2. Kahaila

This coffee shop has an inherent magical quality: while being located in the noisy Brick Lane, you immediately find yourself at peace once inside its warm, wooden building. This business is also a charity, committed to creating community in its social spaces. You will find a sign close to the entrance, asking you not to use your laptop during the weekends. This makes for the perfect opportunity to forget about your deadlines and schedules for a couple of hours while trying their lovely carrot cake and plant-based options.

2. New Diorama Theatre Café

Tucked away amongst the tall buildings of Regent’s Place, you wouldn’t expect to find an independent theatre that is also has a café space. This elegant establishment is decorated with books, flyers of past and upcoming shows, and several plays, that will immediately channel that dark academia mood you’re chasing. Sit by the glass windows and perhaps do some people-watching, as the street is full of employers and young professionals in the midst of their daily work commute. You might even find a play that appeals to you, and go to check out the theatre again in the evening for an entertaining show!

We hope you will enjoy travelling around different London neighbourhoods to try out these places, either alone or with company! This week, and hopefully beyond, is a chance to find the right pace that suits you and your habits, as well as to prioritize both your mental and physical health. We hope you will find our range of events useful to that end: remember to check out our Events page and tick ‘Wellbeing Week’ to find out what’s happening in the upcoming days!
