A Guide to Prayer Facilities At KCLSU

Across usual opening times, all campuses at King’s have places available to staff and students for prayer and reflection. This article will locate these spaces across all campuses: Strand, Guy’s, Denmark Hill, St Thomas’ and Waterloo. 
 

Strand Campus  

College Chapel

Located on the first floor of the King's Building, above the Great Hall, the College Chapel is a key site for worship and a peaceful space at the heart of the Strand Campus.  

 

Muslim Prayer Rooms

The Strand Campus provides dedicated Muslim prayer spaces for staff and students, located in Room S-1.03 (first basement, Strand Building) and Room -1.65 (Maughan Library). These rooms are open during campus hours, with Friday Jumma prayers held in Room S-1.03.  

 

Guy’s Campus  

Muslim Prayer Room

Guy's Campus offers a dedicated Muslim prayer space for staff and students in the basement of the Hodgkin Building. The room is available during King’s opening hours and for Friday prayers.  

 

Dharmic Prayer Room

A Dharmic Prayer Room is available for Hindu, Jain, Sikh, and Buddhist communities at King’s, located in Room 1.18, New Hunt's House, on the first floor, opposite the lifts at Guy's Campus.  

 

Chapel of Thomas Guy

Located opposite Boland House at Guy’s Campus, the Chapel of Thomas Guy and the Quiet Room in Henriette Raphael House are open to everyone. Visitors can pray, rest, reflect, or light a candle. The chapel features a commissioned icon of Jesus and Mary on the organ side.  

 

Denmark Hill Campus  

A Multi-faith Quiet Room is available for all at Room 2.01, Weston Education Centre.  

 

Muslim Prayer Room

Dedicated Muslim prayer rooms are provided for staff and students to meet their faith needs. These rooms are open during King’s hours, including Friday prayers. Please note, that they are reserved for prayer only, with all other activities requiring booking through KCLSU.  
 

These can be found at the following locations: 

- Room W1.07, Main Building, Institute of Psychiatry    

- Room 2.02, Weston Education Centre (Women's Muslim Prayer Room)    

 

Friday Prayers

Friday Jumma prayers take place at Denmark Hill (WEC Gym) and are open to staff, students, King’s Health Partners, and patients or their relatives. Due to space limitations, they are not open to the general public. 

 

Waterloo Campus  

Prayer and Quiet Room

Located in Room 1.2, Franklin-Wilkins Building (FWB), this space is open to all and offers books and resources from various faiths for reflection and prayer.  
 

Muslim Prayer Room

Dedicated Muslim prayer facilities are available for staff and students, providing a space to fulfill their religious practices. These rooms are open during King’s hours, including Friday prayers.  

 

St Thomas' Hospital Campus 

St Thomas' Hospital Chapel

Located on the first floor of Block 5, South Wing, with the Chaplaincy on the second floor of St Thomas' House, the Chapel is open daily and accessible to all College members. Please confirm with the hospital in advance to ensure the Chapel is open and that services are running as scheduled.  

   

Regular Services

- Sunday: 16:30 Mass (Roman Catholic)    

- Tuesday: 08:15 Eucharist    

- Wednesday: 12:15 Eucharist    

 

Muslim Prayer

Friday Jumma prayers are held in Governors Hall, South Wing (1st floor) at St Thomas' campus. These prayers are open to King’s staff, students, King’s Health Partners, and patients or their relatives. Due to space limitations, they are not open to the general public.
