Reflect upon what you have gone through

I will reiterate, this has been a tough few weeks! You may find it useful to write down your feelings over the past weeks. Buy a nice notebook and just blurt down everything, it’s like venting to a friend except it doesn’t even have to be coherent! You can think about what went well, what you want to do differently next time, anything! Just remember to be kind to yourself, you’ve worked hard and completed your exams, so you should know that you did the best that you can. Remind yourself of your strengths, and that you can no longer control the outcome.

Tidy up your workspace

Walk over to your workspace and start to try and de-clutter. Yes, that means carrying out the 5 empty glasses, plates, crumpled up paper and gum wrappers that may be littered all over your desk. By clearing this space and moving the things you used in exams out of view, this can help you let go of exam nerves and reset.

Celebrate with friends and family

After a difficult exam season, you deserve to celebrate with friends and family! This could be a trip to the cinema, a nice meal out or a takeaway. Over the exam period it can be increasingly difficult to stay connected with our friends and family, so this is a great opportunity to chat with your loved ones and debrief on all that has happened over the past few weeks. If you’re worried about your results, catching up with friends at uni can be especially helpful as many of them will also be nervously waiting for results day, so this can help you remember that you’re not alone.

Spend time outdoors

Spending time outdoors can really help with relaxation, especially if you have a lot of anxiety over results. You can take a walk in a park, or just sit there and breathe in the outdoor air. Mind has an excellent resource on the connection between nature and mental health, or KCL Student services has also written a useful article on how frequently visiting green spaces can benefit our mental health
