On the 27th of January, we marked Holocaust Memorial Day. This day is important; it serves to commemorate the immense tragedy of the Holocaust and other genocides and all the lives which were lost.
Holocaust Memorial Day reminds us of the depravity that human beings are capable of. In November, Mohamed, Shaurya and I visited Auschwitz, the largest concentration camp during the Holocaust. One million people were murdered in Auschwitz alone. This was a harrowing, emotionally disturbing and draining experience for all of us. Auschwitz is a stark reminder of how far hate can go if left unchecked, and that we must eradicate not just all forms of hate, but all forms of bias from which hate stems. There are still tragedies that take place in the world today, and we must all be united in our efforts for peace.
