January Assessment Period

The January assessment period can be a challenging time, with deadlines and exams looming large. To help you navigate this season, King’s offers several resources, events, and spaces to support your academic performance and personal wellbeing.

Take Time Out

While a list of study spots is handy (see below), exam season can be incredibly demanding. We need to take breaks every so often to give our mind and body a reset, allowing us to do our best and recharge our overall wellbeing. The Wellbeing Team at KCLSU have arranged the Take Time Out initiative, running from 6 - 10 January, aiming to encourage you to schedule some time away from your studies to boost your wellbeing, take a break, and connect with your surrounding community.

Remember, achieving balance is key during the assessment period. Incorporate breaks into your study plan, stay hydrated, and don’t hesitate to reach out for support if needed. Whether it’s attending a wellbeing event, finding a quiet study space, or simply stepping outside for fresh air, small actions can make a big difference.

Mitigating Circumstances

If unforeseen circumstances impact your studies, you may be eligible to apply for mitigating circumstances. This process ensures that your academic performance is fairly assessed, taking into account any extenuating situations.

Don’t forget to view the new Mitigating Circumstances Policy, which was effective from 1 September 2024. You can find the new policy here

Remember, KCLSU Advice can support you in submitting requests for mitigating circumstances, ensuring that your circumstances are considered by the university. Seeking support from KCLSU Advice is always free.  Anything you say will remain confidential, with no disclosure to external parties without your consent, except in emergencies outlined within the confidentiality agreement.
