Every week during term time, a designated time will be set aside on each campus for you to talk with someone about the wellbeing resources available to you.

Your Wellbeing Reading Week

While it is important to catch up on missed work, try and use the reading week as an opportunity to unwind and relax. Remember, The KCLSU Wellbeing Team is always there for you to talk to, and you can visit the Wellbeing Hub to find out more.

Set clear goals, create a daily schedule, and prioritise tasks. Having a structured plan will keep you on track and motivated. You may want to start thinking about some assignments in advance, or to catch up on work from the past few weeks. Self-care is the number one priority for reading week, so ensure you get enough rest and nourishment to be fully prepared for the next half of the semester. Some even go so far to argue you should spend at least one day completely separated from study and work altogether. Switching off temporarily from academics will allow you to refresh your mind so that when you do get back to studying you will have a refreshed concentration and energy.

Spend time with loved ones

Finding the perfect balance is a journey. Whether that be spending time with family or friends, or simply enjoying some time for yourself, it's important to recharge and refocus. You could catch up with loved ones, explore a new hobby, or take a break from your studies, but most importantly, make sure to prioritise activities that help you unwind.

Need further support?

Sometimes reading week is not as intense as term time. However, for some, this can be uncomfortable. If you feel like you need further support, King’s Counselling Online offers free, confidential, short-term, solution-focused support for those dealing with mild to moderate mental health or emotional wellbeing challenges. The goal is to provide quick access to counselling and help you improve your overall wellbeing.

This service is available 24/7: during the day from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, as well as evenings, weekends, and on King’s College closure days, making it convenient for those with busy weekday schedules.

Please note, King’s Counselling Online (KCO) is not a crisis service. If you need urgent assistance, please seek King’s Crisis Support.
