We are deeply saddened by the recent natural disasters in Myanmar, Thailand, Argentina’s Bahía Blanca, and Greece.
On 28 March 2025, a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar and Thailand, tragically claiming over 3,354 lives in Myanmar and more than 20 in Thailand. In addition, devastating floods have led to the loss of at least 16 lives in Bahía Blanca, Argentina, and at least 7 in Greece.
We want to extend our heartfelt sympathies to everyone affected, especially the families and loved ones of our students from affected regions.
We know this might be a really difficult time, and we would like to remind you that there’s support available through both KCLSU and King’s if you need someone to talk to or somewhere to turn:
- King’s Counselling & Mental Health Support provides free, confidential and safe in-person and online mental health support.
- You can also explore KCLSU Wellbeing for support and resources.
- The King’s Chaplains are also open to confidential and informal conversations and can be reached at [email protected].
- Impacted students can also obtain guidance regarding mitigating circumstances from the KCLSU Advice team by filling out the online form here.
- For financial difficulties, you can get in touch with one of the advisers from King’s Money & Housing Advice Team.
If you can, take a moment to check in on friends or peers who might be affected.
Our thoughts are with everyone impacted in Myanmar, Thailand, Argentina, and Greece.
