King’s is home to a number of spaces on campus that you can use to relax and unwind. Have a look at our suggestions below on where you can go to take some time out. There’s somewhere for everyone!
We provide a comprehensive list of spaces on campus, including the noisier areas as well as quiet spaces. If you are looking for further quiet spaces, you can contact [email protected], who have a list as and when new areas become available.
In addition to the spaces listed below, there are many other informal study/social areas outside of classrooms or empty rooms, that can be found simply by taking a stroll through campus.

We are a specialist language library offering a wide variety of resources to help you develop reading skills, grammar and cultural understanding in the language you are learning.?

Chapters Cafe
Chapters?offers a variety of delicious and sustainably sourced food including freshly made sushi, cold-pressed juices and a porridge station, catering for breakfast, lunch and everything in between.?

This area can be used as a social/study space outside of the lunch period.?Non restaurant food or drink can only be consumed out of operating hours.
The Chaplaincy: K2.34
The Chaplaincy at Strand Campus includes an office, two quiet rooms and a large communal area. These spaces are welcome to be used by all students at King’s.?

Muslim Prayer Room
The first basement at the Strand (S-1.03) – please note if you are part of a society you will need to book an Activity room or speak separately to the chaplains.
Quadrangle (outside of King’s building)
The Quadrangle is a great place for relaxing outside in our seating area, playing chess when the large chess board is out, and soaking in the beautiful campus! Weather permitting, there is also a coffee van outside.
If you leave the campus and walk through the arch at the back towards the river, you will find a seating area on the terrace also, although this is outside of campus bounds.
Macadam Building

Offers a selection of sandwiches, cakes and snacks, and freshly made barista coffee.

This area can be used as a social/study space outside of the lunch period.
Somerset House (East Wing)

The Learning Centre comprises 5 brand newly refurbished rooms designed as individual spaces or as a self-contained suite of rooms with corridor breakout space.
Courtyard
In the main Somerset House courtyard you can find a café with outdoor seating which is perfect for sitting back and relaxing with a book now that it is getting warmer!

The Vault

The Shack
The Shack is our popular metropolitan grab and go spot in Bush House. It’s the perfect place to meet up and spend time with friends, or sit with a drink and a snack to take some time out. To really add to the atmosphere, we also have a performance corner, where creative projects are welcome – live music, poetry and stand-up, feel free to be as creative as you like! Activity Rooms and The Studio
The Studio?is a versatile space located on the Ground Floor of Bush House's South East Wing. It can be used?as a?cinema,?a dance studio, an exhibition space, and much more. It features a?projector for film screenings, as well as wall-to-wall mirrors and spring flooring for dance/martial arts or other activities. We have activity rooms all over Bush House campus, where student activity groups can book to hold their events. Check out the events page to see what’s going on!
KCLSU Hub
KCLSU Hubs are support desks at each campus where you can access a range of KCLSU services in person. Located on every campus, Hubs are staffed by students and provide a range of services currently offered by the students' union. They can help you look for societies or events you are interested in. You can find the Bush House Ground Floor Hub in The Shack. There is also a selection of boardgames that you can play: Connect4, Jenga, Scrabble, Monopoly and Trivial Pursuit.
THIRD FLOOR
King’s College NHS Health Centre
King’s College NHS Health Centre is our in-college GP for all students and staff at King’s. The waiting room has a large number of resources to support you with any physical or mental health issues you may be facing. You can also register to speak to your GP if you need some extra mental health support during this period.
King’s Counselling
The Counselling and Mental Health Support Service offers free and confidential in-person and online support for students at King’s. You must be referred either by a GP or by self-referral before you attend the Counselling Support Service in person. You can take a look at their website here.
FOURTH FLOOR
Student Services
Student Services at KCL advise students face-to-face on campus and online. They can also provide advice via email and telephone. You can check out their website, or visit one of the campus drop-ins on Mondays from 1pm-3pm, or Wednesday from 1pm-3pm. You can also use the following form to request an appointment.
SEVENTH FLOOR
KCLSU Hub
KCLSU Hubs are support desks at each campus where you can access a range of KCLSU services in person. Located on every campus, Hubs are staffed by students and provide a range of services currently offered by the students' union. They can help you look for societies or events you are interested in, or access the advice service if you are struggling. This hub is located next to the KCLSU office, and there are also benches for you to sit and relax on. This comes especially in handy if you’ve been studying in the 7th Floor Lower Loft and want to take a break just around the corner! There is also a collection of boardgames that you can play: Snakes & Ladders, Deception and Operation.
EIGHTH FLOOR
The Meadow
The Meadow is an alternative space for students that includes spaces with beanbags to sit. There is also a microwave and sink, as well ask space to recharge your electronic devices. It has beautiful views of the city and a wonderful atmosphere to take you away from your studies and have a break!

Arcade Café
The arcade café is a welcoming space located in the Arcade, which is part of the King’s Cultural Quarter. A great quieter space to grab a hot drink or a snack and relax.

The Union Shop
The Union shop is a go-to for all of your King’s merch: hoodies, t-shirts and stationery. A nice break on campus to show your King’s Pride proudly! The shop can also be found online if the Strand is not your usual campus.
The Arcade
The Arcade is home to a varied programme of events, installations and exhibitions, offering a forum where students, the academic community and the public can engage with each other, as well as artists and cultural partners. The Arcade also sits facing the Strand/Aldwych pedestrianised space, which is currently in development as a new cultural and learning space in the heart of London, which will showcase King’s research and education initiatives as part of a joined-up programme with its cultural neighbours. The focus of this new public realm space will be on enhancing research and learning, through developing innovative new ways of engaging with communities and creating.
EIGHTH FLOOR
Roots Vegan Café – accessed from either North or South wing entrances.
Roots is a vegan café located on the eighth floor of Bush House. Not only are there a range of vegan options available each day, but you can also enjoy them with the most stunning views. There is a terrace you can access off the café where you can see everything from Canary Wharf and Tower Bridge to the Shard, the London Eye and Parliament. Outside of the lunch period you can use the space just to relax and watch the view.

The Exchange
The Exchange is a space for collaboration and innovation: a place where research from across the social sciences is communicated and generated in creative ways. Many of the activities in The Exchange bring together artists with scholars, to explore?the intersection between the?social sciences and the arts.

King’s Sport and Wellness
The biggest King's Sport gym facility with a prime location in the beautiful North West Wing of Bush House, King's Sport welcomes all students, staff and alumni to come for a break and to let it all out and take a break from studying.

Bush House Courtyard
The courtyard is a great place with a relaxing atmosphere. In good weather there is seating, a courtyard coffee van (Monday-Friday 08:30-15:00).

Rolls Café
The café offers tea and coffee and a range of light snacks including sandwiches, salads, cakes, fruit, confectionary and hot food. Microwaves are available in the vending machine area. There are also sofas which offer the perfect place to relax.
Wellbeing Room
If you’re feeling low or need a break, why not recharge your own batteries in the Wellbeing Room, on the second floor in room 2.24. More beanbags are scattered around the library for you to find and lounge in.

The Science Gallery
The Science Gallery is a multi-use space consisting of a café where you can sit and relax with a drink or some food, but also an exhibition space that frequently changes. Science Gallery London brings together King’s academics, researchers and students with local communities and artists in surprising and innovative ways. King’s Sport & Wellness London Bridge Gym
The London Bridge Gym at King’s is a great place to come for a break to relax and take some time out. Check out their website here.
The Chapel
The Chapel on Guy’s campus is situated opposite Boland House. It offers a quiet space for students to take some time out and relax.
West Wing
KCLSU Hub
KCLSU Hubs are support desks at each campus where you can access a range of KCLSU services in person. Located on every campus, Hubs are staffed by students and provide a range of services currently offered by the students' union. They can help you look for societies or events you are interested in. You can find the Guy’s Campus Hub across from The Shed. There is also a Wii U with Mario Kart that you can play in one of our activity rooms!
The Shed
The Shed is our alcohol-free, inclusive space on Guy’s Campus where you can chill out and play a game of tennis. Be sure to check out the brownies whilst you’re there! You can visit the website here.
Guy’s Bar
Guy’s Bar is the oldest student bar, restaurant and nightclub. You can find it downstairs from The Shed. There are booths, small tables and an open seating area. It is the perfect place to go and relax in between study sessions, grab some food or attend one of the quizzes on offer. Take a look at the website here.

KCLSU Social Space
Just next to the hub you can find a large social space fitted with booths, sofas and tables and chairs as well as vending machines and charging points. There is a large projector and a PS4 that you can use to be collected from the hub. The hub also has Articulate, Connect4, Jenga, Scrabble and a chess board that you can use.

Friday Jumma prayers are held at the St Thomas' campus (in Governors Hall, South Wing, 1st floor), open to staff and students at King's College London and King's Health Partners and patients and/or patients' relatives only. Unfortunately, pressures of space mean that these facilities are not open to the general public.
