At KCLSU, we are happy to celebrate Student Volunteering Week! This is a national event where students get recognition for their hard work, and we are so proud of the impact our students make every single day. This week, we want to make sure you know the power student volunteers can have on their community, and how you can participate.

Student volunteering is the perfect environment to connect with like-minded individuals, find inspiration, and be involved in causes that speak to you. Now you might be asking yourself: why is it so important to get involved in student-led volunteering? Here's a list of all the benefits you can enjoy from joining our Volunteering Team!

The pros of volunteering

Follow your passions

First of all, you can lead your project and address those issues you’re passionate about. For example, you may have encountered some common issues with your classmates, but you’re not sure how to tackle them. Student volunteers do just that! Once you identify a cause, you can start planning around it to have a real, tangible impact on the whole community.

Prepare for your future career

It also looks great on the CV, which is a nice plus! You can gain hands-on experience in project management, teamwork, and leadership – which are important qualities to showcase in future job applications.

Take your pick amongst our many student-led projects: from free workshops and classes available to your local community to Widening Participation Projects, and even fundraising initiatives (bake sales, charity runs etc.) 

You’ll also have the chance to many other volunteers, and make long-lasting friendships along the way!
