So, you’ve landed in the Capital and want to make the most of London’s incredible nightlife on a student budget. Well look no further than the KCLSU student bars – you’ll have an amazing time and still have enough money for chips and a kebab on your way home!
KCLSU offers three incredible bars, each with their own unique quirks and events – there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
1. Guy’s Bar
Established in 1882, Guy’s Bar is the oldest venue KCLSU has to offer. A hot spot for all students on Guy’s Campus, the bar is filled with treats and fun events each week. Why not pop-in during the day for a mega milkshake or tasty bite to eat? Or head on down for after-hours pints, cocktails and mocktails, including the infamous GKT ‘n’ Juice. If you’re looking for events, the LEGENDARY Guy’s Bar Sports Night is NOT to be missed. Prepare for wild Wednesday nights with all of your fellow GKT teams to celebrate your sporting wins from earlier in the day. Keep your eyes peeled for exciting events, including karaoke, quiz nights, LGBT+ society glitter balls, board games, beer pong and so much more.
2. The Vault
The Vault is our KCLSU student bar, restaurant and nightclub at Strand. This modern, sleek space is the perfect spot to meet up, eat, relax and socialise from early until late. The Vault boasts an international menu, cooking all meals fresh to order by in-house chefs. It also has a wide range of vegetarian, vegan and halal options – so something for everybody. The bar and grill is also the proud home of our famous curly fries and chicken goujons - some of the best you’ll get in London – try them and see! Don’t miss the International Student Welcome Party or any of the upcoming DJ club nights. Whether you need a bite to eat, spot to chill or a rowdy night out in central London we’ve got you covered.
3. Philosophy Bar
And now for my personal favourite: the Philosophy Bar, a cool space for a calm catch up between lectures and chilled music and drinks into the night. Have fun finding the secret door on Surrey Street to enjoy the smooth, speakeasy vibes that Phil Bar has to offer. Challenge your mates to a game of pool, darts, draughts or cards - and sample some of the finest whiskeys, real ales and lagers the Strand has to offer. Come for the history and culture and stay for the brand new programme of events this year, with everything from slam poetry to open mic nights. You’ll need card access to get into Norfolk Building from Surrey Street, so be sure to bring your student ID!
I can’t wait to meet you in your favourite KCLSU Bar!
See you soon,
