University Mental Health Day

Let's talk about your wellbeing!

At King's College London Students' Union (KCLSU), we understand the unique pressures and challenges that our diverse body of students face on a regular basis. With the exam season approaching, many of you would be feeling overwhelmed, but you are not alone, KCLSU is here to support you every step of the way.

As the current president of your union, I’ve been actively working with King’s Healthcare to run a debunking myths campaign and celebrate University Mental Health Day. The campaign aims to break the myths around accessing mental health support, particularly regarding waiting times and the diversity of our counselling team. These myths have often acted as a barrier for our student body to ask for help when it comes to their mental wellbeing. I want to assure you that the university is committed to providing you with timely and effective support, tailored to your unique needs. You can learn more and access these services here

Furthermore, we also recognise the importance of diversity in making mental healthcare more inclusive and accessible. Our counsellors hail from varied backgrounds and specialisations, ensuring that you can find someone who truly understands your perspective. This is part of our ongoing myth debunking campaign, aiming to make mental health support more accessible and inclusive for everyone.

In addition to the university's counselling services, KCLSU's Advice & Wellbeing team is always here to assist you, whether you need help with academic appeals, wellbeing activities, or just someone to talk to. You can find more information and get in touch here. And if at any point you are feeling lost, stressed, or just need someone to listen, you can spot me on campus and I will be there to extend my support.

To wrap up, please do remember that taking care of your mental health is not just about seeking help when you're struggling; it's also about celebrating your strengths, embracing self-care, and supporting each other. This University Mental Health Day, give yourselves a pat on the back for doing so well!

Thank you for being a part of this journey.

Kind regards,

Steven Suresh
